Impounded Dogs

Compliance Officers regularly collect dogs that are found wandering at large on the local streets, parks and reserves within the City of Port Lincoln boundaries.  When the owner(s) cannot be identified or contacted straight away the dog(s) are taken to the Council pound.

If you have identified your dog is at the pound please contact the Council office to speak to a Compliance officer on 8621 2300.

Prior to the release of a dog from the pound, the owner must provide proof that the dog is registered.  If the dog is not registered the owner will be required to come into the Council office to register the dog and will be required to provide documentation such as a driver's licence or proof of age card as proof of identity and age as part of the registration process.

Impoundment fees will also be required to be paid before the dog can be released. To view the impoundment and registration fees please refer to the Council's Fees and Charges Schedule.

Payment of Registration and Impoundment Fees can be made by cash or EFTPOS in person at the Council office:
Level One, Civic Centre
60 Tasman Terrace

A time will need to be arranged with a Council Compliance officer to collect the dog.  The Compliance officer release dogs daily as per arrangement between:
10.45am - 11.15am;
4.45pm - 5.15pm or as agreed upon.
