The final step in the journey to become an Australian citizen, for most people, once your application has been approved is to make the Australian citizenship Pledge at an Australian citizenship ceremony.
The City of Port Lincoln conducts conferral ceremonies for approved Australian citizenship applicants residing in the council area. Ceremonies are arranged when the Council is advised by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection that there are applicants available for conferral in the council area and have been advised by the person(s) themselves.
The Citizenship ceremonies are held annually on 26 January (Australia Day) as part of the Australia Day celebrations on the Port Lincoln foreshore.
To arrange for the presentation of your Citizenship certificate and any enquries in relation to local Citizenship ceremonies contact Council's Executive Assistant, Anna Bell on 8621 2300.
Queries about citizenship applications, citizenship ceremonies and citizenship certificates can be addressed to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection by phoning 131 880 or email Adelaide.Citizenship@border.gov.au.
